Laggan-Tormore: One Message, One Priority.

Innovating. Pioneering. Involving. Protecting.

Located approximately 125km north-west of the Shetland Islands, the Laggan and Tormore fields represent the future of the UK oil and gas industry.

Resourcing Laggan-Tormore

The scale and complexity of the Laggan-Tormore development has created a number of unique resourcing challenges for Total over the past 3 years.

From humble beginnings, when just a handful of Total people were tasked with building a business development case to access the Laggan and Tormore gas reserves found in the West of Shetland, the team has expanded beyond all recognition.

The Laggan-Tormore team now consists of over 200 personnel across all aspects of design, fabrication, construction, commissioining and project support services, with people working on a truly global basis in Shetland, Aberdeen, Sharjah, Kuwait, Norway, the Netherlands, the USA and India.

The Shetland Gas Plant construction management and supervision team based on Shetland has been growing during 2011 and should reach full compliment by the middle of 2012. This team comprises a mix of personnel, some of whom have previous Total experience and others who are new to Total. However, all are new to working on Shetland and are fully comitted to delivering the SGP in what can be a challenging and at times extrememly harsh environment.

In addition, the management and supervision team based at the primary SGP module fabrication site in Kuwait has now been mobilised. This team comprises an eclectic mix of European, UK, Middle Eastern and Indonesian personnel, most of whom have joined Laggan-Tormore from other Total projects. This has provided an excellent team of experienced personnel who are fully aware of Total's general specifications and project management processes.

2011 has also seen significant activity around the resourcing for the Operations Team who will manage  the SGP once all the construction and comissioning activities have been completed and the plant has been handed over to Operations. An extensive recruitment process covering advertising, candidate screening, initial interviewing and comprehensive Assessment Centres have helped to ensure that we are recruiting a strong team, capable of delivering the future success of the SGP.

Julie Stewart, Senior HR Advisor on the project commented 'this professional and robust approach to resouricng our Operations team has enabled us to identify highly experienced and capable individuals to meet our immediate and our longer term development needs on Shetland.'
